Canadian Baptist Ministries Ministries (CBM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brenda Halk as a Strategic Associate to assist our international partners in the training of women as leaders within congregations and the marketplace. She will be the Women’s Initiatives Facilitator effective April 1, 2014. This appointment aligns with CBM’s belief that equipping women can be key in helping heal broken communities and restore dignity and justice to bring lasting spiritual and social change.
Brenda will help to establish a global network of Canadian Baptist women who are committed to empowering younger and emerging women globally to use their gifts and skills to transform local communities. Through the development of their skills they will become effective agents of change, within the family, the church and their local community.
In addition to Brenda’s extensive experience as an educator and entrepreneur, she has served as a leader in various volunteer ministry capacities, including as the President of CBM’s Board of Directors from 2009 to 2012. She was also President of Canadian Baptist Women, Canadian Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec and an Executive Member of North American Baptist Women.
Brenda’s experience enables her to bring strategic leadership to this exciting new ministry. This includes addressing the tensions which are inherent in balancing the many personal, professional and family demands which women face. Her international travel has allowed her to witness first-hand the difficulties of women in the Global South as they pursue faithful service despite living contexts where they may have been marginalized.
