CBM Appoints New Global Field Staff Ken and Wendy Derksen

GFS-Bio-Pic-Derksen

Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ken and Wendy Derksen as Global Field Staff in Rwanda. The Derksens will be working primarily on capacity building with CBM’s partner the Association of Baptist Churches of Rwanda (AEBR). As a Certified Management Accountant, Wendy will be engaged in financial training and administrative management. Ken will consult with the AEBR with a particular focus on facilities management, property, and risk assessment.

The Derksens have felt a call to local and global mission for many years.  Their international focus was heightened following a short-term mission trip to Rwanda to visit CBM’s Orphans and Vulnerable Children program.

Prior to their appointment with CBM, Wendy was the Controller for Saskatchewan Blue Cross. Her previous workplace experiences include accounting roles in the private sector as well as Manager of Finance with Saskatoon’s Open Door Society. Ken, as an Architectural Engineering Technologist, has worked in project management with various architectural and engineering firms. Together, they’ve been active in many roles at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Saskatoon and support their community by working at the Bridge on 20th street ministry and in youth and children’s ministries.
