Emergency Relief

The Sharing Way provides a compassionate and effective Canadian Baptist response to humanitarian disasters. Our goal is to work with church partners who are already present in the effected communities. Often our partners are using their own resources and professionals in their membership to provide immediate assistance. Human and financial resources from The Sharing Way facilitate greater reach and coordination with other organizations working in the area.

Whenever possible, our programs work through CBM’s international church partners. In other areas we support the efforts of Baptist World Aid and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. In post-Tsunami Indonesia, we provided technical assistance and finances for rehabilitation on the island of Nias. People in communities reported that our relief workers spoke their language and assisted communities in areas that other organizations had never visited.  This is the strength of church based international relief.

Disasters generally occur with little or no warning. The Sharing Way retains an Emergency Relief Fund that allows us to respond immediately in a time of crisis. We appreciate general donations to this fund as well as charitable contributions to specific humanitarian crisis.
