 Remembering Lorne Stairs (1923-2012)
The CBM family has been saddened by the sudden death of Lorne Stairs on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton, NB. Lorne was born on September 5, 1923 in Nackawic, NB. Lorne served as a 1st Flight Lieutenant and in the first radar unit in the British Royal Air Force. In fall 1952, he and his family moved to Bolivia, where they served as missionaries for more than 25 years.

 Update from Northeast Province in Kenya
As Kenyan forces continue to square off against suspected Somali based al-Shabab insurgents, the area of Northeast Province (NEP) in Kenya has become extremely volatile. The Canadian High Commission of Kenya has issued a travel warning to all Canadians, strongly recommending avoidance of this area after the abduction of two MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) aid workers last month. CBM has taken this under advisement and all our Field Staff have left the area and will not be traveling to NEP until such time as the situation improves. CBM will continue to regularly re-assess the safety of travel into the region.
