Global Field Staff

Doug and Jill Janzen

Latest Update

Doug and Jill are Global Field Staff teaching at the Ana Wollerman Baptist Theological Seminary in Dourados, Brazil. From June 2001 to December 2002, they served at the seminary as Canadian Baptist Volunteers. In March of 2003, they were appointed by CBM for long-term service. Doug and Jill are serving in the same school where Doug’s parents, retired CBM missionaries Karl and Kathy Janzen, served for 28 years.

Prior to living in Brazil, Doug spent his early years in Victoria, B.C. After graduating from highschool, Doug then returned to Canada to study and graduated from Prairie Bible College in 1990 (B.Th. & B.R.E) and Regent College/Carey Theological College in 1996 (M.Div.). In 1988 Doug went to Brazil to assist in the Pantanal Project, becoming the first Canadian Baptist Volunteer to serve overseas. He has since been actively involved in cross-cultural ministry in both Canada and abroad.

Jill was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1986 (B.A) and 1988 (B.Ed). In the summer of 1987 Jill taught English in Japan for nine weeks with Life Ministries and spent five years teaching French, English and ESL to high school students in Surrey, B.C. In 1993 Jill enrolled in Regent College, from which she graduated in 1996 with a Masters in Christian Studies.

The Janzens met during their studies at Regent College and were married in 1995. They have three daughters, Devorah, Anneken and Katrina.
