HIV and AIDS in the 21st Century

It has been more than 30 years since AIDS was first recognized as a disease.  While progress has been made in treatment and prevention, the grim reality is that there are still more than 34 million people living with HIV globally, the vast majority of whom are in sub-Saharan Africa. While the media’s attention has shifted elsewhere, CBM continues to fight this pandemic by supporting effective church-based groups called Guardians of Hope on the frontlines in Africa and India. For over 10 years now, these groups have been a strong presence of God’s love and care for those impacted by HIV and AIDS. December 1 marks World AIDS Day. Take this opportunity to raise the profile of this global pandemic and the critical role of intervention and care by GOH and faith communities around the world.
