June 20, 2017

June 21 is National Aboriginal Day, a day for Canadians to “recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First NationsInuit and Métis peoples“, according to Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada. Currently, Cheryl Bear, spokesperson for #SheMatters4Canada is in Bolivia with Jennifer Lau, Director of Canadian Partnerships at CBM, to meet with Indigenous women and help open difficult dialogue on issues facing Indigenous women today, such as discrimination, marginalization, and the often taboo subject of gender-based violence, that only increases with silence and denial. Continue to pray for them as they explore the needs of women in Bolivia.
