November 21, 2017

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This year, the theme is “Leave no one behind: end violence against women and girls”. This theme is meant to reinforce our need for “a world free from violence for all women and girls around the world, while reaching the most underserved and marginalized, including refugees, migrants, minorities, indigenous peoples, and populations affected by conflict and natural disasters, amongst others, first,” says information from the United Nations. The CBM She Matters 4 Canada campaign opens difficult dialogue on issues facing Indigenous women today – including discrimination, marginalization and gender-based violence. As spokesperson Cheryl Bear continues to promote awareness through concert events, please pray that church leaders and congregants would be moved to take action in support of Indigenous women. Please also pray that the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls would bring about healing and hope for the future.
