October 25, 2016

On October 4, 2016 Haiti was hit by Hurricane Matthew, leaving 1.4 million individuals in urgent need of assistance, killing an estimated 1,000 people and destroying 80-90% of some communities’ infrastructure. Due to widespread flooding, devastation and poor sanitation, cholera is expected to spread. Some facilities have already reported three times the number of cholera cases. Please pray for ongoing attention to the crisis, as CBM is contributing through Health Action (an implementing partner of our partner BMS World Mission), to supplement existing efforts providing cholera care at Cholera Treatment Centres, with extensive community prevention and education for an estimated 10,000 people through various community WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) activities.
