Sam Chaise to Depart CBM at End of Term

Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) announces that Executive Director Rev. Sam Chaise has elected not to renew his contract and will depart from his current role with the organization at the conclusion of his 5-year term this Fall.

Says Sam, “When I started at CBM I made a commitment to lead the organization for the 5-year term of my contract and then discern whether this should be renewed. During this time, along with the senior leadership at CBM, we have been able to accomplish significant change. Input from stakeholders has determined that the next season of ministry at CBM will require a different balance of leadership elements in the Executive Director role, and after a period of consideration I have determined that it would be best for the organization to seek another person to carry it forward.”

During Sam’s term of service, the organization underwent significant re-visioning and re-branding activity, which has resulted in a refined articulation of CBM’s mission to minister alongside local churches internationally through integral mission. In addition, under Sam’s leadership, CBM has experienced significant growth in its Chinese ministries, as well as seen the development of new important partnerships in Cuba and South Sudan.

Says CBM President Ken Bellous, “With sadness I have received Sam’s announcement that he will not be seeking a further term as Executive Director of CBM. Sam has contributed his excellent communication and visioning skills to our organization and we are grateful for his service. We look forward to seeing how God will continue to use Sam in Christian service within our Canadian Baptist family.“

In the coming months, CBM’s Board of Directors will begin the search and recruitment process for the next Executive Director. The CBM Board will be meeting in May to determine the transition and search process. Please be in prayer for Sam and his wife Cindie, and CBM, as they seek God’s leading for the next season.
