Our family is safe and sound after the earthquake we felt here in Lebanon. Of course, nothing compared to what the Syrians and Turkish people experienced. For us, it has been a hard week, trying to cope with another disaster across the border. Our hearts are heavy! The question we ask: How long must we take counsel in our soul and have sorrow in our heart all day? (Psalms 13:2).

Mireille and I serve in Lebanon. I am the President of the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) and Mireille tutors students in our online program. The ministry of ABTS is quite unique in the Arab world. Because of the freedom of religion that we still enjoy in Lebanon, we are able to train Church leaders for the entire Arab world (Middle East and North Africa) no matter the ethnic or religious background of the students. We are grateful for the continued opportunities to serve God alongside the Arab Church despite the increased difficulties of operating a ministry in Lebanon.
Thank you for following my news. In this newsletter, you can read about a couple of highlights from the ministry in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) through graduates from the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS). Last April we visited Sudan, this trip aimed to spend time with our partners after the disruption in travel caused by the pandemic. It was important for us to be there to encourage them and show them our support. It was also a good time to evaluate the projects we supported in 2021 and talk about their plans for 2022 trying to figure out how we, at CBM, can offer meaningful and strategic support to the ministry of the Church in Sudan.
