Mississauga, Ontario – Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Patricia Nacho Vargas as Latin America Team Leader, effective January 1, 2025.
Patty takes on this new role as previous Team Leaders, Bruno and Kathleen Soucy, transition from their current duties and shift to new roles. As she takes on this position, Patty will shape strategies in the field that align with CBM’s ethos and integral mission goals. She will build and nurture effective relationships with our international partners as well as foster missional awareness with STEP and SENT experiences. Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, Americas and Asia, she will guide Latin America Field Staff in their collective objective towards alignment with CBM’s mandate and partnership priorities.
Adrian Gardner says, “We are excited that God has called Patty to serve in this role, especially as the first National Field Staff to hold the position. Her experience, skills, and character will be assets as she leads CBM’s ministry in Latin America.”
Patty’s journey with CBM began in 2015 when she took on the role of Global Discipleship Coordinator. Then in 2022, she was appointed as a Program Officer for Latin America. Her background includes university studies in finance, a field she worked in for several years. Prior to joining CBM, she served with a Bolivian-Norwegian organization working with churches on development projects with a focus on integral mission.
“I feel deeply blessed and challenged by the opportunity and responsibility that this new role entails. At the same time, [I have the] joy of knowing that the Latin American team are people with a heart of service and love for this continent,” says Patty.
