September 2024 – Executive Director Jennifer Lau gives an update on the latest news from CBM.
Hello friends,
As we dive into the last few months of 2024, let me update you on what has been happening here at CBM!
The past few months have been filled with opportunities to celebrate partnership, one of the cornerstone values of CBM, both nationally and globally.
In Canada, we were present at the regional denominational assemblies, connecting with our Canadian Baptist family and feeling a renewed sense of commitment to our shared work. To those of you who stopped by the booth, chatted with our staff, or came to our workshops – thank you for engaging with us! It was wonderful to spend time with you.
As we reflect on 150 years of Canadian Baptists on mission together, we have had the privilege of being with many of you at regional event celebrations, to acknowledge the legacy of our work and look forward to where God is leading us together in these next years. If you haven’t accessed the resources that have been created for this milestone year, please visit CABA150.ca
Over the summer, it has been encouraging to see the Canadian Baptist family collectively raise funds and awareness for food security projects through Active in Mission. Thank you for caring deeply about hungry people and taking action to feed hope within our neighbourhoods and around the world.
Globally, we and our African partners continue to work toward true mutuality in partnership through the signing of the Nairobi Accord. This agreement is a continuation of our shared commitment to build capacity and live out God’s mission in the region together.
I’m excited to share that recently, Helle Liht has joined CBM as Director of Partnerships for Africa, Europe, and Middle East, and Adrian Gardner has stepped into the role of Director of Partnerships for Americas and Asia. These positions signal a shift in how we are positioning our work in Canada within a new global reality.
Looking ahead to the coming months, keep your eyes open for our Hopeful Gifts for Change Gift Catalogue and opportunities to partner with us through our Christmas campaign. And, after a successful launch of Wordeed Magazine in June, the second issue will be published in January, with a focus on celebrating our growing partnerships.
Of course, that celebration of partnership must include you. You enable us to faithfully do the work God has put before us. Thank you for your steadfast prayer and support as together we embrace a broken world through word and deed.
