For the Hmong community, living in a remote village in Thailand brings immense challenges due to their location in forest reserves and national parks. The lack of legal land ownership leaves them vulnerable to disputes, with limited access to essential services like electricity and phone signals. Your gift helps to equip communities with the knowledge and tools to protect their environment and advocate for their rights.

Your donation will support activities such as land rights awareness training, tree planting, and building water-retention dams. These initiatives ensure the community has sustainable access to resources like food and water while preserving their environment for future generations.

The Impact of Your Gift: Aopas’ Story

As a member of the Hmong tribe, 35-year-old Aopas and his family have lived off the land for generations. However, they face constant pressure from authorities due to their “illegal” status under land and forestry laws. Before participating in the project, Aopas and his community struggled with deforestation, loss of agricultural land, and a lack of education about their rights.

Through the Creation Care project, Aopas has become a local leader, advocating for sustainable practices and community rights. He and his family actively create firebreaks, build dams, and plant trees to restore their environment. “This project has made me and the community aware of the importance of protecting and restoring the green areas of our community,” he says. 

“I hope that future generations will recognize the importance of caring for resources and the environment as they are the home, the source of income, water, and food for our survival.”
