Ministry Update June 2026
My name is Laura Muema, and I serve as a Global Staff in Kenya with Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM). I am the Program and SENT Coordinator for the Africa Area. In this role, I work alongside CBM Church Partners to support the effective implementation of joint ministry projects while coordinating with the CBM team and our partners to host Canadian SENT teams serving across Africa. My ministry focuses on women, youth, children, and family ministries, helping strengthen local churches as they serve their communities through holistic mission.
I live in Nairobi, Kenya, with my family. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Canadian Baptist churches for your generous support of my ministry. Your faithful partnership enables me to continue serving God’s people across Africa. Thank you for your prayers, generosity, and commitment to God’s mission. May God bless you for the sacrifices you make to help advance his Kingdom.
On a personal ministry level, I completed the Partners’ Capacity Building Training by successfully finishing the fourth and final module in March 2026. Graduating alongside participants from our partner organizations across Africa was both a privilege and an encouragement, equipping me with additional knowledge and skills to better serve our partners and strengthen our ministry together.
Highlights of My Ministry in 2026
The first months of 2026 have been filled with opportunities to serve, strengthen partnerships, and support ministry across Africa.
I continued conducting field and home visits for the Kids at Risk Project with the African Christian Churches & Schools (ACC&S), monitoring project implementation, encouraging families, and supporting local churches as they minister to vulnerable children.
I also worked closely with our African church partners by reviewing project proposals, providing feedback on narrative reports, and supporting the planning of future ministry initiatives. These efforts help ensure that projects remain effective, sustainable, and aligned with our shared mission.
In March 2026, I participated in both the Nairobi Accord Gathering (An agreed affiliation of all African partners and CBM) and the CBM Africa Team Retreat in Kigali, Rwanda. These gatherings provided valuable opportunities to connect with colleagues and partners, celebrate ministry achievements, discuss challenges, pray together, and plan strategically for the future of CBM’s ministry across Africa.
A significant part of my ministry in 2026 has been coordinating Canadian SENT teams. Since 2025, I have been working closely with our Canadian discipleship team to prepare for this year’s ministry opportunities. I coordinated logistics, scheduling, and activity planning for two Crandall University teams—Claystone and BTH—who served in Kenya during April and May, which was a success as they visited and participated in different ACC&S projects across Kenya. They participated in the food security project, Kids at risk project, Health and mentorship project, Eco-friendly project and worked with pastors and clergy in various church activities including leading praise, worship and preaching in different ACC&S regional churches.
Hosting these teams involved working closely with our Kenyan partner, African Christian Churches & Schools (ACC&S), to ensure every aspect of their mission is well-coordinated. From travel logistics and accommodation to ministry schedules and partner communication, my goal was to create meaningful opportunities for mutual learning, fellowship, and service while supporting the ongoing work of our local church partners.
As I look ahead, I remain grateful for God’s faithfulness and for faithful partners who support me and enable me to continue walking alongside churches across Africa as we strengthen families, empower women and youth, care for vulnerable children, and equip local churches to share the hope of Christ in their communities.
