This project aims to address the issue of deforestation in Kanyabayonga and Kamandi villages surrounding Virunga Park. Due to repetitive war and insecurity, the forests in this region have been greatly depleted by IDPs and armed groups alike needing firewood and other resources to meet their basic needs. This project will support the Department of Diakonia and Development of the Baptist Community in Central Africa to sensitize, raise awareness, train and bring community members to participate in the fight against environmental destruction by producing tree seedlings and reforesting the surrounding area.
