May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Greetings from Guatemala!
The nativity scene pictured is from a famous market in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. We love it for the use of the traditional fabric that you see on the figures. Each village around Lake Atitlan expresses their heritage through fabric woven in designs specific to each region. Reverence for God’s creation is seen through flowers, birds and the geometric shapes depicting people, animals and the volcanoes that surround the Lake! As we begin this season of celebrating the gift of Jesus to the world, we are reminded of the unique expressions of His love for all of creation.
2025 has been a year of change for us, marking a shift in ministry, and in our lives as parents and grandparents as we have moved from full time work with CBM to contractual roles.
We were blessed to spend 5 months in Canada this summer, in 4 provinces, with our 3 children, 9 grandchildren, extended family and both of our mothers! We had the opportunity to help two of our children move into new homes, (Caroline and Ben), to experience a marathon from the sidelines (Ben and Elissa), to celebrate the end of year performances at a wonderful music arts school (Laura), to do life with amazing grandkids aged 6 months to 16 years and to support Kathleen’s Mom through an emotional move into full care at the age of 102!
While we are no longer hosting church teams directly, it has been our privilege to host people who are exploring their own calling, and those who need to take a pause from their busy lives to meet God in this special place that we call home (for at least part of the year!). We thank God for the privilege to “be” with others and to be used in some way, as God works in each of our lives. Please pray for our colleague, Byron Valesquez as he plans for and accompanies teams travelling our way in 2026.
Bruno has supported Vennture initiatives in Central America, CBM’s focus on Faith & Work, accompanying churches and businesspeople as they understand the “theology of work” and how we are all called to serve where we are and with the talents and opportunities we have – as entrepreneurs, employees, church leaders or wherever we are working. Vennture also walks with partners and entrepreneurs who provide for their families and communities through training, mentoring, and sometimes capital for doing good business, better. Pray that these efforts have impact in the lives of business owners, their employees, churches and communities and that redemptive business would be a testimony of our faith.
We thank you for continuing to be with us through your prayers and financial support as we serve where God has placed us. You continue to sustain us and encourage us, and we thank God for you.
Jesus came into the world to walk with us, to be with us, to bring peace through us, his imperfect people. He came to be the King of a new Kingdom, one in which we are called to engage. That is exciting whatever our life stage or circumstances. May you be His peace this Christmas season and throughout the year in your community, and your family.
Blessings,
