Your gift to feed hungry people will be matched!

If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. Isaiah 58:10 ESV

Globally, 783 million people are going hungry. Issues with conflict, cost of living, supply chain vulnerabilities, changing weather patterns, natural disasters, and the after-effects of the pandemic have left many uncertain of where their next meal will come from.

In partnership with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Canadian Baptists have strategically invested in making an impact on global food security. The Foothills Growing Project in Alberta resources farmers with seeds, fertilizer, fuel, etc. who are then able to focus on growing crops. All proceeds from the sale of specified crops are designated toward Foodgrains Bank food security projects around the world which the Canadian government matches.

This year, your gift to feed the hungry will be matched! You can double your impact by giving today.

Dawn Giles heads up the Foothills Growing Project with her husband, Murray. They share the trials and triumphs of the past year as Canadian farmers focused on helping to feed the hungry globally.

Farming is more complicated than it used to be. As far as the challenges in farming, markets are affected by things that are going on in the world that are out of our control. Drought has been the biggest challenge these last three years.

But despite 50% of crops being lost to drought in 2023, they were able to adapt and contribute substantially to CBM’s Foodgrains Bank projects.

Canadian Foodgrains Bank trusted partnerships. We can confidently tell our people who donate that the money is going to get spent where it’s supposed to get spent and that it will get to the people who need it.

We really appreciate CBM because we know that not only are they feeding the people physically, but also spiritually. our talents to tell the world about God and that people across the world care about what they’re going through. This is something that’s near and dear to our hearts.

Will you join the endeavours of our Canadian Farmers with your gift to feed the hungry?

Emily is a direct beneficiary of the efforts of communities like the Foothills Growing Project. She lives in Kenya with her husband and their two children. She shares her story:

I am grateful and humbled to be part of this program. It came when we had lost hope in farming due to changes in the climate and lack of support. The training we received on soil fertility management, conservation agriculture, and adopting good planting systems has restored our food security.

We also received training on improved methods of raising a different variety of chickens that mature and gain weight quickly. I learned how to administer vaccines and am helping my community vaccinate their flocks. For the first time in a long time, we can control diseases which used to wipe out all the chickens in the village.

This venture has greatly strengthened my relationship with my husband and our financial freedom as we have enough for our needs and my savings. And my children have free access to eggs for their diet! With the kind of support we are getting from the project, the future is bright. We are very grateful and may God continue blessing this project.

Because of a generous long-time friend of CBM, your gifts toward CBM food security programs are guaranteed to be matched. The Government of Canada is also committed to matching Canadian Foodgrains Bank projects, some as much as 4:1.

You can make a difference in the lives of those struggling to feed their families by giving today. Thank you for 150 years of faithfulness.

Grace and peace,
