The Situation

Kabuganaan Philippines Ministries (KPM) aims to facilitate community transformation and development and works with local churches to minister to marginalized people and communities. Pastors of local churches in Capiz Province often receive theological training at Bible schools and seminaries. However, many church leaders do not continue their formal education because of time and financial restraints. As KPM surveyed local pastors, the need for continued practical and theological training among pastors became evident. Many church leaders deal with feelings of inadequacy as they maintain various aspects of pastoral ministry such as budgeting, pastoral care, and community development. To equip pastors for the growth of the church in Capiz, they are offered practical and relevant workshops to help them build and lead healthy and thriving churches.

How We Are Helping

In partnership with CBM, KPM offers a variety of relevant bi-monthly workshops for pastors :

Theological, Biblical and Missiological Modules

Participants grow in their understanding of theological topics such as salvation, biblical interpretation, and the role of the Church in the world.

Pastoral, Church Life and Community Life Modules

Participants are equipped with practical knowledge of the role of a pastor and practical skills in financial stewardship and addressing specific needs in their communities.

Economics and Gender and Sexuality Modules

Participants will explore concepts of gender, sexuality and women’s empowerment as well as learning organic farming techniques and how to keep proper financial records.

The Impact of Our Work

Agnes is a mother of two, and she and her husband are both pastors at Capiz Evangelical Church, the oldest and biggest city church in terms of structure and membership in the province of Capiz. While her husband pursued his Master of Divinity, Agnes was busy carrying and caring for their children. After her pregnancy, she immediately enrolled in the CCTEP program. In the program, her low esteem as a woman pastor without continued education was built up and confidence in her skills and knowledge were strengthened. Agnes hopes to continue growing and learning in the program for effective ministry in her church.

“My training at university was very short and limited.  I have still so much to learn to make me an effective pastor in the church and community. The CCTEP program is an answer to that need.”

Wilbor A. De Leon

“The program is very helpful to pastors.  It is an answer to their identified needs.  Being a graduate of Bible School or seminary is not a guarantee that one has more than enough knowledge for him/her to efficiently perform his/her pastoral roles and functions. Positive impacts can be seen in pastors who have participated in the program:  their sense of identity and worth, their way of understanding their roles and functions, their way of addressing problems, issues and concerns they encounter in the church and community are just few examples to mention.”
