On Monday, April 22, 2019 a 6.1 magnitude earthquake shook Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The death toll is at 16 with at least 24 people still missing. Less than 24 hours later, on April 23, 2019, another earthquake registering a magnitude of 6.5 hit the island of Samar, located in central eastern Philippines. CBM Global Field Staff Michael and Melanie Waddell’s area of assignment was not in the vicinity of the earthquake. However, the family was in another province where they felt tremors but are thankfully unharmed. Please continue to pray for them as they carry out their work in the country. Please pray for the families of those who had passed, and for those who are still missing. Pray for the search and rescue workers, for strength and for direction as they strive to find the missing. Please pray for protection for the whole country against additional earthquakes, aftershocks and earthquake-related disasters such as tsunamis. We ask for provision for those who have been financially affected.
