Serving in East Asia
Edgar has been a pastor in the Canadian Baptist family for many years, serving in the areas of church transformation and the planting of new congregations. Until recently, Edgar and his wife Philippa lived in Asia, serving with local churches and opening up new ministry avenues for CBM. They were instrumental in starting a bilingual worship service in a major Asian city where many young adults came to Christ. They were also engaged in helping local faith communities start ministries for left-behind children (kids who have been left with elderly grandparents when their parents move to urban centres for work), as well as the mentoring of young adults. Edgar also provided leadership at an international church in Hong Kong and its ministry to university students. He is currently seconded to Carey Theological College as an adjunct professor and works on behalf of CBM to develop and manage the Master of Pastoral Ministry program for Asia. His role is to help design the curriculum, teach and mentor students in the program.
