Yorkminster Park Baptist Church is seeking a full time Minister of Pastoral Care and Discipleship. This individual is called:

  • To provide leadership in the ongoing development, coordination and delivery of pastoral care ministry;
  • To develop, organize and lead biblical programs/educational opportunities that guide members in their Christian journey of faith and service; and
  • Participate in all ministry team meetings and work collegially and supportively with other team members modelling all that is best in the body of Christ.

The purpose of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church is to offer an ongoing witness to the reality of the Risen Christ in our lives and in our world through worship and service, in word and deed. Qualifications and Education Requirements

The candidate must be an ordained minister recognized by, or willing to be credentialled by:

  • A Baptist Convention in fellowship with the Canadian Baptist Ministries, or
  • A Baptist Convention of another country, whose ordination standards are acceptable to the Credentials Committee of Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec, or
  • The analogous ordination authority within another Christian denomination, whose ordination standards are acceptable to the Credentials Committee of Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec.

Role and Responsibilities

The Minister of Pastoral Care and Discipleship (MPCD) will work as a member of the ministry team to create a welcoming, equitable and culturally responsive environment that is inclusive of the diverse, intersecting identities that comprise the church community. The MPCD will coordinate/provide pastoral care, and oversee Life group ministries, existing and new discipleship programs. The MPCD will supervise the Parish Nurse and will guide and support the Pastoral Care and Health and Wellness Committees. Development of support programs for members experiencing bereavement, divorce or other life challenges is also expected. Other responsibilities will include participation in leading worship services, occasional preaching as scheduled, and editorial oversight of, and weekly contributions to, a daily on-line devotional program. Preferred Skills

  • Five years of direct or relevant experience in pastoral care and discipleship.
  • Demonstrated commitment to team ministry and shared responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills including technological and virtual formats.
  • Intermediate Computer Skills
