A Global Christmas

for your church

As you prepare for Advent and Christmas, we’d love to invite your church to be part of A Global Christmas.

This year’s theme, Joy to and from the World, reminds us that the joy of Christ is something we both share and receive. As part of one global Church, we have the opportunity to pray for one another, learn from one another, give generously, and celebrate what God is doing in communities around the world.

We know Christmas is already a full season for churches, so we’ve created simple resources that can fit into what you’re already planning.

You don’t have to do everything. Choose what fits your church and make it your own.

What could a Global Christmas look like

in your church?

There are lots of ways to take part. Your church might choose a gift or project from Hopeful Gifts for Change, support Global Staff, focus on a particular region, or give together to Where Most Needed.

You could bring stories and prayers from the global Church into your Advent worship, invite your children to learn and participate through Kids Care, or create a Global Christmas tree that grows throughout the season as people take part.

Some churches may build a campaign around one shared goal. Others may use a reading in worship, share the catalogue with their congregation, or choose a few resources that complement what they already have planned.

The invitation is the same: find a way for your church to share in the joy of Christmas with our global family — and to receive from the faith, stories, and witness of others, too.

One simple way to take part

Not sure how to put the pieces together? Here’s one way your church could approach the season.

Make a plan

Gather your team and decide what participation could look like for your congregation. You might choose a gift or project from Hopeful Gifts for Change, support Global Staff, focus on one of the regions where CBM serves, or give to Where Most Needed. If giving will be part of your campaign, decide together what you’re working toward and how you’ll invite your congregation to participate.

Get your team ready

Decide who will help lead and communicate A Global Christmas in your church. Ask your children’s ministry leaders if they’d like to use the Christmas Kids Care lesson and begin thinking about where the campaign could naturally fit into worship, church communications, and other Christmas plans.

Prepare for Advent

Introduce A Global Christmas to your congregation through the campaign video and share how your church has chosen to participate. Use the Advent candle readings in worship. Set up a Global Christmas tree. Share stories, campaign updates, or opportunities to take part through your bulletin, newsletter, website, or social media. However you approach it, keep it simple enough to work for your church.

Celebrate the joy

When the Christmas season comes to an end, take time to celebrate what your congregation shared in together. In January, show the A Global Christmas Thank You video and tell your church what their participation made possible. It’s also an opportunity to remember the joy we receive through our relationships with churches and communities around the world.

Global Christmas Tree

Create a visible reminder of your church’s participation throughout the season.

The colourful A Global Christmas pop-out ornaments sent to churches celebrate the campaign theme and the regions where CBM serves. Hang them on your tree or use them around your church as reminders of our global family.

You can also download printable participation ornaments. Invite those who contribute to your church’s campaign to add their name to an ornament and hang it on the tree. As Christmas approaches, the growing display becomes a picture of your congregation participating together.

A Global Christmas Thank You Video

Close the loop with your congregation after Christmas. Share the thank you video in January as you celebrate your church’s participation together.

Want to talk about what could work
for your church?

Every congregation is different. If you’re wondering where to start, what to focus on, or how these resources could fit with what you already have planned, your CBM Regional Representative would be glad to talk it through with you.

You don’t need to have it figured out before you reach out.
