July 6 is International Day of Cooperatives. Cooperatives are considered one of the solutions to the problem of inequality and injustice in the world. It is grounded in sustainable development and uses ethical values and principles. At its core is concern for the well-being of its members, creating fair opportunities, jobs and livelihood among the community. One of CBM’s upcoming projects is Collective Cup – single source, justice coffee served at churches that is farmed by a coffee bean cooperative and supports a CBM project in El Salvador.
Pray for cooperatives around the world, that they may continue to thrive and that society will recognize its value. Pray that more and more individuals, communities and groups will patronize products from cooperatives.
