Mississauga, Ontario – Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) announces the conclusion of Strategic Associate Jeff Carter’s service with the organization effective August 31, 2020.

Jeff and Deann Carter first joined CBM as Global Field Staff in 2002. They were based in Prague, Czech Republic where they focused on developing the Horizons program for youth workers and mentored youth leaders within the European Baptist Federation (EBF). In 2018, the Carters returned to Canada and Jeff was seconded to serve with the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) as the Director of Horizons and Congress Mobilization, a role he continues to hold.

Beginning September 2020, Jeff will move from CBM to take on a new role with Crandall University in Moncton, New Brunswick working with international students.  Dr. Bruce Fawcett, President of Crandall Universitycommented “We are delighted to provide a home for Dr. Jeff Carter and the Horizons initiative. We believe that our partnership with Jeff and the Baptist World Alliance will facilitate an even greater impact in the years ahead.”

CBM’s Director of International Partnerships, John Chan shares, Jeff trained youth ministry trainers for numerous Baptist Unions or Conventions who in turn trained youth workers for churches in their respective denominations. After successfully training his successor, a leader from the EBF, Jeff passed on this thriving ministry and transitioned to become the Director for Horizons at the BWA. Jeff’s experience training youth leaders became an invaluable resource in expanding Horizons beyond Europe into Asia, Africa and Latin America.”

CBM expresses its gratitude to the Carters for their years of faithful service and wishes them blessings on their new ministry paths. Says CBM Executive Director Terry Smith, “For the past 18 years, I have been able to see the growth and impact of Jeff Carter’s ministry through CBM, first as a researcher, then as the author and leader of Horizons in Europe and, more recently as it became a global youth ministry training program.  Thank you to Jeff and Deann for walking this path over these years of service through CBM.”
