The Situation

The Lahu people are an independent ethnic group that make their living largely through farming in the remote mountainous regions of Eastern Myanmar.  Villages lack basic facilities such as health clinics and have limited water supplies. Villages often are required to move locations when their water supply and farming soil are depleted. Further, many villagers when seriously ill must travel long distances to the nearest town in Myanmar for treatment. With a heart for the Lahu people, Pastor Doudu, a pastor of a Lahu church in his village, has committed to ministering and improving the living conditions for Lahu villages in Shan State. He and his team provide medical help for health problems, build up the church and help improve facilities in the remote villages. With a growing number of Christians in Lahu villages, the project addresses the need to support new Christian communities and the villages by building churches and providing pastors to lead and encourage congregations.

How We Are Helping

The project demonstrates God’s love by meeting the needs of Lahu Villagers in the following ways:

Improving Living Conditions

The project establishes water supply systems for drinking and growing crops, and ensures free medical care for health problems. In serious cases, villagers are helped to the nearest hospital.

Sharing the Gospel

Pastor Doudu shares the good news of the Kingdom of God with Lahu villages and baptizes new believers.

Supporting New Christian Communities

Church buildings that are constructed provide believers with a place to worship and serves as a clinic, school, and common meeting place for villagers. Co-workers of Pastor Doudu stay and pastor in the village churches.

The Impact of Our Work

Jar Share is a father of three and lives with his family in Bar Biet village in the mountainous region of Eastern Myanmar. Jar is a farmer and works hard to support his family. Unfortunately, he has health problems that sometimes keep him from working when he is sick. His family also faces the financial problems that come with extra medical expenses. Because of pastor Dou Du and the local church, Jar received free medical treatment.  The project has helped the Bar Biet village to build a water system that improves the hygiene of the community. Jar Share said, “We are thankful for the clean water to use and to drink so that we are healthier now. We are also thankful for the medical treatment that solved our health problems.”

“We received free medical treatment from pastor Doudu when we get sick. Pastor Doudu has helped us have a healthier life and better spiritual life as well.”

Ah Bo

This project helps the Lahu villages involved in the project to build multi-purpose church buildings. The buildings will let the villagers worship God together, receive medical treatment and allow children to receive an education.
