Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, is beginning the search for our next Pastoral Staff position. The Cornerstone family began this process over a year ago and we could not be more excited to see who God has planned to serve as our Pastor of Connections & Care.

Ministry Needs & Position Description

  • As Cornwall continues to grow, opportunities to connect people into meaningful church relationships continues to increase. We are looking for a person who loves people and has a desire to help them get connected into meaningful relationships with others.
  • To provide opportunities to address the mental health struggles that our communities (Cornwall, Montague & Stratford) are working through. (preventative in nature)

General Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Meets the scriptural requirements for a spiritual leader;
  • Spends time in prayer & study on a daily basis;
  • Takes two days (Saturday +1) off each week from his/her employment duties, although circumstances may require working occasionally on these days off;
  • Attends all staff meetings and retreats, as directed;
  • Is at the church for all regular worship services and, as directed, special services;
  • Maintains flexible working hours;
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Tier 1 Priorities Connections & Care @Cornwall:
    • Lead, Develop and or Overhaul all “The Lobby” Ministries of Cornerstone Cornwall
      • The Café, Ushers & Greeters are all Sunday morning relational and hospitality ministries.
    • Lead, Develop and or Overhaul Cornerstone Cornwall’s Connections Ministries in close consultation with the Lead Pastor
      • New to Church Information Dinners
      • Life Groups & other small group type of ministry opportunities.
    • Cornerstone Cornwall’s Care Team Ministry
      • Coordinate, Develop & Equip volunteers on the pastoral care team to support the needs of the body such as meals, cards, hospital visits, love kitchen, home visits etc.
    • Cornerstone Cornwall’s Care Ministry
      • In partnership with the Lead Pastor, provide personal pastoral care to the body of Cornwall who require emotional, spiritual, social, prayer, or other support working through issues of faith, reconciliation with God, self, and others, etc.
  • Tier 2 Priorities Care Responsibilities, Churchwide:
    • o Health and Well-Being Ministry
      • Identify members of the church body requiring additional external support
        beyond what can be provided within the church Care Ministry;
      • Help individuals and families identify the support they would benefit from and assist them in navigating community resources and services including facilitating referrals where appropriate;
      • Build relationships and care pathways with community resources and services to
        facilitate appropriate referrals;
      • Assist in the navigation of, and gaining access to, professional counselling
        services where appropriate;
      • Engage in ongoing professional development to ensure skills are
        comprehensive and up to date (e.g. SafeTalk, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid);
      • Help to increase the Mental Health Literacy within all aspects of Cornerstone Baptist Church (staff, pastors, volunteers, and church body) by planning, developing, and coordinating events and opportunities with a focus on areas such as mental health, resilience, whole person wellness, coping strategies, self-care, mental health problem management, seeking help etc

Qualifications:

  • This person must be a follower of Jesus Christ
  • Ideally, this person must have 5-7 years of ministry experience
  • This person must have a ministry degree (MDiv, BA Religious / Biblical Studies / other)
