Carla Nelson is my name and I am honoured to serve as the Education Specialist on CBM’s Africa Team. It is with joy and gratitude that I share aspects of our joint work so that you can continue to be our partners in prayer.

I delight in my colleagues on the Africa Team and ask that you continue to uphold each one in prayer.

I also request that you continue in prayer for our work in Africa. Pray for our partner denominations and their leaders, new learning initiatives that are being offered, and all those whose livelihoods have suffered in the past years due to the implications of the pandemic.

May the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make you complete in everything good so that you may do his will, as he works among us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever (Heb. 13: 20-21). Amen.

Please pray:

• Our Team Leader is Andre Sibmona. He has the responsibility and the gifts for overseeing the relationships with our partner organizations in Africa. Please pray that he may have continued wisdom in this visionary role and restored health from recent challenges.
• Polisi Kivava oversees the Relief and Development work. This week he is in South Sudan helping our partners establish new programs. Please pray for his safety and for his health.
• Gato Munyamasoko is our Peace and Reconciliation Specialist. He is teaching several training cohorts in the curriculum he designed. Please pray for his energy as he teaches and engages with so many. Also pray for peace in the North Kivu area given recent violent tensions.
• Laura Muema works with projects aimed and helping women, children, and those most vulnerable. Please pray that she and those community members alongside her will bring forth a witness of the gospel in word and deed.
• Darrell and Laura Lee Bustin are stationed in Rwanda but are currently on home assignment in Canada. Darrell is our team’s Theological Education, Discipleship and Evangelism Specialist and Laura Lee is our Specialist for Logistics. Please pray for them as they spend time with Canadian churches and friends and family close to home.
• Please pray for our partner organizations in Africa and their Legal Representatives who are committed to being faithful to the gospel in word and deed in the places to which God has called them. They include:
  • Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Ngumo Kiguru, Africa Christian Church and Schools (ACC&S), Kenya
  • Bishop Ndagijimana Emmanuel, Association des Eglises Baptistes de Rwanda (AEBR)
  • Rev. Dr. Samuel Ngayihembako Mutahinga, Communauté Baptiste au Centre de l’Afrique (CBCA), D.R.Congo
  • Rev. Saphano Riak Chol, Faith Evangelical Baptist Church (FEBAC), South Sudan

• Pray for learning initiatives in the areas of Peacebuilding and Reconciliation and Integral Mission in the Workplace.
• Pray for those most vulnerable and who have become more vulnerable due to the implications of the pandemic. Livelihoods have been negatively impacted due to the death of loved ones, loss of jobs, and interrupted schooling.
