Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, you’re our strength, rock, fortress, and deliverer; in you, we take refuge.

In our distress, we called to You; we cried to our God for help. We are confronted daily by death, sickness, economic downturns, isolation and mental health challenges. Without you, we would be lost, but we’re thankful that you stoop down from your temple and you hear our voices; our cry came before you, into your ears.

We pray today specifically for our partners who have suffered the greatest due to COVID. We pray for partners in India, in Andhra Pradesh, in Odisha, and in Nagaland who are ravaged by the pandemic.

We pray for our partners in Lebanon, in Bolivia, in El Salvador, in Guatemala, in Cuba, in the Philippines, in Thailand and in Myanmar. So many of their pastors and congregants have died or have had family members die in the past 16 months. We pray for comfort. We pray for healing. We pray that you will give them the courage to persevere.

We pray for ourselves – give us compassion for those suffering more than we. We pray for the generosity to share our resources with them and bestow us the wisdom to recognize the many blessings you have given us.

And we give thanks to you, that in our times of need, you reached down from on high and took hold of us; you drew us out of deep waters. You rescued us from powerful enemies, from our foes, such as COVID, which was too strong for us. But you, Lord, are our support. You brought us out into a spacious place; you rescued us because you delighted in us. For this, we’re grateful, and we give thanks and praise to your name!

In the name of our Lord Jesus, we pray, amen.
