This project supports farmers living in the rural areas in Kabare and Kalehe Territories in the South Kivu Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo where there is a high level of extreme poverty and malnutrition. Through this project 200 farmers will be trained on conservation agriculture and agro forestry using a hands-on farmer field school approach. The project will also help to establish nurseries and kitchen gardens for food diversification, train farmers on livestock keeping, and distribute seeds and small livestock (goats, sheep and pigs) to participants. Training on the creation and management of Village Saving and Loan Associations (VSLA) will also be offered for the 200 participant households.
