The main goal of this project is to build a community of young peacemakers living in the quickly growing IDP (internaly displaced people) camps. Youth in these camps are often drawn into violence, gangs, drug and alcohol abuse, and are taught that the way forward is revenge, not peace. CEBCE has already planted a church in the Bulengo camp and will begin with their local youth leaders. These young leaders will be trained as ‘peace ambassadors’ who are given a place to explore and heal from their own trauma and empowered to start youth peace clubs. By the end of the project at least 50 youth will be equipped to lead their generation in reconciliation and build safe and positive communities within the IDP camps.
