Serving the Global Church from Home
CBM pivots to remain connected
by Gordon Brew, CBM Team Lead, Content & Design
arch 5th I was sitting in my colleague Adrian’s office watching the latest press conference from the Prime Minister. We watched in silence. The exponential infection rates, the projections for how serious this could become came into focus. Within a week we were locked down, working from home. Meeting over ZOOM, we asked how we could stay connected to our supporters and churches when all our churches were closed? We had to pivot.
As you did, we all faced new challenges, pressed on and figured out how to “build the plane while you fly it”. Live-Streaming video became our platform for checking in on staff, partners and Canadian Pastors discussing the challenges facing us all in these times. Our department created more digital content in three months than we had for all of the previous year.
Whether your church meets on-line or in-person we will continue to keep you connected to your mission efforts around the world through CBM.
Within days we were up and running with a Facebook live call everyday at 2:30 p.m. This initiated a growing list of videos presented in real time from our staff around the world. All previous calls can be watched on the CBM YouTube Channel.

We are creating content for churches worshiping on-line that can be easily added into any Sunday streaming service. Field updates, sermons, scripture readings, prayers and music.

Our Spring issue of Mosaic magazine was to feature our final cause: Crisis Response. Ironically, due to a global crisis, the publication was postponed and has become the Fall 2020 issue – a tablet-friendly digital download.
