Darrell and Laura Lee Bustin have been integral members of the CBM team since 2002. The Bustins began their journey in overseas ministry in Indonesia where Darrell taught at Kalimantan Theological Seminary and mentored future leaders. Laura Lee supported women’s ministries in the churches and taught in short term roles at the seminary and the children’s school. They later moved to Rwanda in 2012 where they served for 13 years before relocating to Canada where they will continue their duties remotely. Darrell currently specializes in theological education and church leadership development across sub-Saharan Africa. Laura Lee supports the work of the Mississauga office in a part-time role.

Darrell and Laura Lee served at Hillside Baptist Church in Moncton, NB prior to their call overseas. They both graduated from Crandall University. Darrell furthered his studies with an MDiv from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a DMin in Homiletics. They recently completed a Certificate in Marketplace Transformation.

Prayer Requests

  • We are thankful for how our first year went as we adjusted to our Canada-based roles. This has been a new experience for us, so we are grateful with how well it has gone as we worked remotely in Riverview, NB with the CBM head office in Mississauga (Laura Lee) and our partners in Africa (Darrell).
  • Thank the Lord that Darrell’s three-week visit back to Rwanda in March went well.  While there, he was able to participate in a couple of conferences that involved teams from all the Africa partners.  It was a great opportunity to connect with colleagues old and new.  He also was the facilitator at a training with pastors and church leaders from CBCA, our partner in DR Congo.
  • Praise God for the Nairobi Accord, an agreement in which our Africa partners, along with CBM, commit to support one another through encouraging, equipping and working together in joint efforts.  As a result of the recent Nairobi Accord Conference in Kigali, two new partners have been added to this agreement.  This means the partners now include: Kenya (ACC&S), South Sudan (FEBAC), Rwanda (AEBR), Democratic Republic of the Congo (CBCA and CEBCE), Central Africa Republic (AEBEC), Togo (CBT) and Liberia (LBMEC). It is wonderful to see the power of partnership in action!
  • Pray for Africa partners as they make use of the curriculum that Darrell, together with colleagues Gato and Carla Nelson, helped to create: Integral Mission in the Workplace.  The partners are using it in different ways.  Some are having their leaders trained, others are already passing it on to their pastors.  And it is also being used in the classroom with students.
