Canadian Baptist Ministries is seeking a Copywriter to work in the Communications Department, reporting to the Team Lead, Content Design. The Copywriter will assist our Canadian Partnership and Content Design team in creating age-appropriate content for children in an annual curriculum publication that will be made available across Canada, writing engaging stories for our constituency, and helping to write scripts for video-based lessons for children and youth.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Research global injustices in various countries where CBM partners in community development work
  • Create age-appropriate content for children in an annual curriculum publication that will be made available across Canada
  • Write scripts for video-based lessons for children and youth
  • Create engaging stories for our constituency to engage them in our global work
  • Write web content and social media posts
  • Archive photos
  • Edit content for newsletters

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Post-secondary education in communications, journalism, social science, or related field
  • A strong commitment to social and economic justice; good understanding of Christian mission
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to frame issues for different audiences
  • Excellent organizational, collaboration and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment to achieve common goals on time
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, social science, business, or related field
  • Exceptional research, writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • An understanding of the non-profit and social services sector is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively within a small, entrepreneurial team
