Tim and Kallie are CBM Global Field Staff who work with CBM’s partners, the Bolivian Baptist Union (UBB) and its development arm, OBADES, to build and support effective programs and ministries. They help to get churches involved with strategic community development projects, as well as help expand the capacity of the seminary to train effective leaders through improving accessibility to theological resources. Over the last month, Bolivia has been experiencing significant civil unrest. Following fraudulent elections, blockades and protests paralyzed the country leading to the president resigning and fleeing the country. Now a large portion of the population, feeling disenfranchised, have started counter protests, rejecting the provisional government. The country is divided and there have been significant episodes of violence and loss of life. The local church has the potential to be such a needed blessing if they can work in unity to promote civil respect and peacemaking. Please pray for wisdom amidst misinformation, high emotions, and a complicated reality. Pray for peaceful protests, civil respect between neighbours, and national peace. Pray for wisdom as local churches discern how they can best engage socially and politically during this period of seeking peace, healing, and reconciliation. Pray for justice which brings shalom and facilitates deep healing long after these events.
