Dear Heavenly Father,
We praise you because you are the Lord of Lords, King of Kings. You have reminded us in Psalm 29:10-11 that “The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” We hold on to your promises in the midst of the COVID-19 even though we do not know where and when this will end.
Thailand is a tourist country. The country’s economy greatly relies on tourists from all over the world. However, the country is still in lockdown until the end of June or even longer. All the businesses related to tourism are greatly impacted. We pray for the people who have lost their job during this pandemic. May your love and comfort be upon these people through your churches to provide these needy families with food, love and care, and also bring the Good News to those who do not yet know you.
We pray for our local partner Bethel Bible Institute and its teachers and students. The new school term began on May 18 – however, because the border is still closed, the students from Myanmar and other overseas countries are not able to return. The Thailand government announced that school will start July 1. During this time, we have put classes online over Zoom. It is a new challenge for all. Students have limited and unstable data access and some have no electricity in their villages. They rely on solar energy to charge their phones, but the weather has been bad. It is also complicated for them to send their homework. Father God, you know all the challenges we are facing, please give us patience and wisdom so that we can overcome all the problems and that students can still learn effectively.
We also pray for the drug rehabilitation ministry. The rehab villages are locked down and cannot receive newcomers. Even before the pandemic, there has always been a long waiting list and now it is even much longer. We pray for those who are waiting to get into the program. Protect them, guide them, and sustain them, so they may stay strong and keep away from drugs during this waiting period.
We also pray for the Lahu ministry in the remote, restricted territories. May the villages be opened soon, so that the gospel can be shared with those regions again.
We give thanks to you Lord that our children Terrance and Michelle, Elaine and Michael are all safe and healthy in Canada.
We pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ,
– The Kwoks
