Our Lord and our God, in the midst of the mounting global pandemic caused by the spread of COVID-19, we are reminded in 2 Corinthians 1:3, that you are the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.  Today, around the world, there are many hurting people in need of your gracious compassion and loving comfort.

In the Philippines, people have suffered many calamities in recent months and now they face a rising health crisis that has the potential to overwhelm their medical capacities.  We pray for all the frontline workers, that you would protect them and their loved ones from this harmful virus. We pray especially for Capiz Emmanuel Hospital in Roxas City, the mission hospital of the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches in Capiz province.  As they provide medical care, please use them and their efforts to heal those who are sick. Many hospital staff are unable to return to their homes after their shifts because of enhanced community quarantines throughout the province, but we know that you are Jehovah Jireh (the Lord will provide) so we ask that, through the generosity of your people, you will provide for the needs of these workers, such as food and shelter.

We also pray for the ministry of our partner, Kabuganaan Philippines Ministries (KPM) and the Capiznon (Kasapulanan) Baptist Churches Inc. (CKBC).  We pray for Rev. Job & Phoebe Santiago, as they provide leadership during these challenging times.  We are thankful for the ministry of the local church in the Philippines, particularly in Capiz province, and ask that you inspire them as they seek to be salt and light in the midst of these uncertain times.  Unlike the vast majority of churches in Canada, most churches in the Philippines do not have the ability to broadcast worship services on the internet, so we pray that you will guide pastors and church leaders as they look for ways to minister and connect with their congregations and communities.

Finally, we ask for prayers for us and our family.  It is not easy during the best of days to be so far away from family and loved ones, and especially now during this time of pandemic. We pray for protection for us, as well as all CBM Field Staff around the world, and may your comfort and compassion overflow unto those who need it most.

Resting in the comforting arms of the Father, the compassion of the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.
