November 19 is World Toilet Day, which raises awareness about improving hygiene and sanitation practices around the world to prevent the spread of disease. About 60 per cent of the global population either have no toilet at home or one that doesn’t safely manage waste, says information from the United Nations. At schools around the world, 900 million children also lack hand-washing facilities, which is a first line of defence against spreading disease. In El Salvador, CBM is partnering with ENLACE to improve the health and sanitation of impoverished communities. Please pray for our latrine project, which replaces shallow pit latrines with composting latrines – an intervention that prevents waste from contaminating water sources. Please pray for staff and community volunteers as they educate communities on the need for proper sanitation practices. May the latrine project continue to help children and families in need, reducing waterborne diseases.
