Vennture works with churches to become vocationally formed gathering and sending communities that equip followers of Jesus for meaningful participation in God’s redemptive story through their work. We also work with majority world entrepreneurs striving to lift their families towards a hope-filled future, that leads to human flourishing. We work to narrow the gap between Sunday worship and Monday work and bring the realities of daily work into gathered worship. Whether you’re in a pew or a boardroom, a classroom or a clinic, a kitchen or a construction site, your work – and your worship – matters.

Common Place Worship was born out of CBM and Vennture’s desire to help deepen the integral connection between work and worship. Supported by a grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, a group of Atlantic Canadian worship leaders, artists and songwriters gathered for writing retreats focused on faith, work, labour and service.
Several retreats and a handful of follow-up sessions later, an eight-song album by Common Place Worship was formed. The heart of this resource is to help churches live a seamless life. Whether on a job site in New Brunswick or in a co-op in El Salvador, Common Place Worship reminds us work is a form of worship and a way to participate in God’s mission.

“Work Songs”, releasing October 3, 2025, is the debut offering from Common Place Worship (Carley Lee, Jared Cook, Matt Brouwer, Marc Jolicoeur, Timothy Andrews, McCaila Andrews, Aaron Bartlett, Rachel DeVries, Jeff Somers, Steve Watts). Commissioned by Vennture and produced by Jeff Somers, this 8-song album was written and recorded to both bless and be used by the local church as we ponder together the intersection of work and worship. (Mixed by Ron Scott, mastered by Drew Lavyne.)

These songs were written with the church in mind. Our sincere hope is that they would be sung in churches all over the globe, strengthening the connection of Sunday worship to Monday work. To make this possible, we’re happy to share the chord charts to all of our songs as a free download.
This effort is more than just the songs. We’ve also worked with a number of Canadian voices to offer prayers, liturgies, blessings, benedictions, articles and other resources to help narrow the gap between Sunday worship and Monday work.
