Christmas 2023 Matching Appeal

December 2023

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

— JOHN 16:33 (NIV)

This Christmas, we are especially grateful for your faithful prayers and support throughout this past year. You have been an encouragement to us and our partners around the world.

Amid crises and tragedies such as the conflict in Gaza, disasters like the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, and the economic fallout of soaring inflation, we remember how God has remained steadfast in love and continues to provide. But as global needs continue to rise exponentially, we can’t do this alone.

Will you partner with us to bring hope to a hurting world?

Until December 31, a generous supporter of CBM has pledged to match your gift to What’s Most Needed, doubling your impact. By giving to What’s Most Needed, you can ensure our partners have access to the resources necessary to help transform lives.

Lives like Ahmad’s. Living through the war in Syria, he and his family have been displaced five times since 2011. When they finally found a place to rent with their extended family, it was deemed structurally unsound due to the devastating earthquake. Ahmad registered with the shelter rehabilitation project through our church partner. A team was sent to assess the damage and rebuild their living space.

Ahmad shares, “Rehabilitating the house was a dream that came true thanks to the church…we [have] a feeling of safety and stability again.”

Being displaced from home is something the people of South Sudan also know all too well. Nyakong was forced to flee and live in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp with her four children after her husband was killed. Years later, they finally returned home, but Nyakong and other farmers struggled to start over. She received a cow, as well as training on conservation agriculture from CBM’s partner in South Sudan. Nyakong’s farm is now thriving, and by selling the milk from her cow, she has been able to send her children back to school. Thanks to your support and prayers she has renewed hope for the future.

On the other side of the world, in Bolivia, 17-year-old Gregory is preparing his application to study engineering at university. This opportunity seemed far out of reach for him as he grew up in San Sebastian’s notorious men’s prison while his father served his sentence.

Thankfully, he attended the Casa de la Amistad, a program for children who have an incarcerated parent. Gregory received meals, help with his education, spiritual guidance, and experienced the love and care of committed staff. Through these supports and resources, his life was forever changed. He shares, “I’ll always be grateful to the Casita for everything they’ve done in my life.”

Thanks to your gift to What’s Most Needed, families like Ahmad’s are aided in emergencies, farmers like Nyakong have better food security, and kids like Gregory receive practical love and support so they can achieve their dreams for a brighter future. Your generosity enables each of these individuals and their families to have their unique needs met.

Will you help others like them? The needs are many, but we serve a God who has overcome the world.

By giving to What’s Most Needed before December 31, you can double your impact through a matching gift and help bring meaningful change to a broken world.

Together, we can share God’s love with people and communities uncertain of what tomorrow holds. Your generous gift can help them reclaim a much more hopeful and brighter future. Please consider giving today.

May the peace of God bless you this Christmas!

Executive Director
