Mississauga, Ontario –  Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) is pleased to announce the appointment of André Sibomana to the position of Africa Team Leader effective September 1, 2019. André’s role is to provide continental leadership for CBM’s African Team, act as the primary liaison with partners in Africa and oversee partnerships and programs. He will lead the team in reaching organizational goals by directing, coaching and empowering Africa Field Staff and assisting continental partners in the accomplishment of shared objectives.

Says John Chan, CBM’s Director of International Partnerships, “Team Leaders have an important role within CBM.  They promote their sphere of ministry both on the field and here in Canada and help shape CBM’s field strategy for the future. André brings many gifts to the role. He is a strategic thinker with on-the-ground experience especially in community development. As a Rwandan national who has worked throughout East Africa, André brings extensive knowledge of the local culture and context. As a long-time CBM National Field Staff, André also understands Canadian culture. His ability to straddle the cultural lines between Canada and Africa is a valuable asset. In addition, André is also a wonderful team player who values cooperation and collaboration. This makes him the ideal candidate to take on the role of CBM’s Africa Team Leader.

André first joined CBM in 2011 as an Integral Mission Coordinator until 2013, worked in partnership with CBM through Association of Baptist Churches of Rwanda (AEBR) before returning to CBM as Deputy Team Leader for Africa in 2018. His educational background and training include integral mission, theology, community development management, financial management, agriculture and livelihood, and organizational leadership and governance. He is currently completing his MBA in Strategic Planning.
