Mississauga, Ontario – Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Dr. Bruce Martin as the new Regional Representative for Western Canada effective August 25, 2025. Bruce brings over three decades of pastoral leadership, theological education, and global mission engagement to this role, which will focus on deepening CBM’s relationships with churches and partners across Western Canada.
Bruce has served as Lead Pastor at First Baptist Church in Lethbridge, Alberta for the past 23 years, where he led a vibrant congregation and ministry team through significant missional initiatives, including partnerships in Cuba and Mexico, and the mentoring of numerous individuals into pastoral and global mission service. His earlier pastoral roles include leadership at Zion Baptist Church in Edmonton and First Baptist Church in Truro, Nova Scotia.
In addition to his pastoral ministry, Bruce has taught extensively at both graduate and undergraduate levels at institutions such as Carey Theological College, Tyndale Seminary, Crandall University, and Briercrest College. His academic background includes a PhD in Education from the University of Alberta, a Master of Divinity from Acadia Divinity College, and a Master of Arts in Geography from the University of British Columbia.
Bruce has also contributed to the broader Christian community through his involvement with CBM’s Strategic Planning Committee and Board of Directors, as well as numerous civic and interfaith initiatives in Lethbridge. His passion for integrating faith, education, and community engagement has been a hallmark of his ministry.

Bruce and his wife continue to reside in Lethbridge, where he enjoys painting, creative writing, and exploring the outdoors. He is deeply committed to supporting churches in their local and global mission and looks forward to walking alongside CBM’s partners in Western Canada.
