Updates and Prayers for the Middle East (June 26, 2026)
We invite you to watch this special episode of CBM Calling and hear directly from those serving in Lebanon amid ongoing conflict and uncertainty.
Hosted by Louise Hannem, CBM’s Team Lead, Church Engagement, this conversation features Rabih Wazir, CBM’s Integral Mission Coordinator, MENA Region, and Dr. Wissam Nasrallah, President of the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) in Beirut.
Together, they share what daily life looks like in Lebanon today, how local churches are responding with compassion and hope, and how we can continue praying for peace, protection, and the Church’s faithful witness in the midst of crisis. Thank you for joining us in prayer and partnership with our brothers and sisters in Lebanon.
At this time, our Global Staff in Lebanon are safe. Please continue to pray for:
Elie and Mireille Haddad • Rabih Wazir • Evangeline Hammond • Emad and Almess Botros
Please pray for our partners in the region:
- Thimar-LSESD (Lebanon) – Arab Baptist Theological Seminary – ABTS (Lebanon) and its students and alumni across the MENA region
- Middle East Revive & Thrive – MERATH (Lebanon)
- Nazareth Evangelical College – NEC (Israel) and its students and alumni across the MENA region
- Shepherd Society (Palestine)
Specific prayer requests:
- Pray for a just and lasting peace in Lebanon and across the Middle East.
Ask God to bring an end to conflict, restore what has been broken, and give people hope for the future. - Pray for those living with fear, grief, and uncertainty.
Lift up families who have been displaced, those who have lost loved ones, and those struggling to meet their daily needs. - Pray for local churches to remain beacons of hope and compassion.
Ask God to strengthen congregations as they continue to serve their communities and faithfully witness to Christ amid ongoing challenges. - Pray for pastors, ministry leaders, and theological educators, including those at ABTS.
Pray for wisdom, endurance, and encouragement as they equip and shepherd the Church in a complex and difficult context. - Pray that believers in Lebanon would continue to bear faithful witness to Jesus.
Ask God to fill his people with courage, peace, and love so that they may continue sharing the hope of Christ through both word and action.
A few months ago, during the Living Stones webinar, Yohanna Katanacho, Academic Dean of Nazareth Evangelical College, shared a poem he had written. May his words become our shared prayer in this demanding and painful season:
This is a season of weeping and mourning, but it is not void of hope.
Our tears are the bridge between brutality and humanity.
Our tears are the salty gates for seeing a different reality.
Our tears are facing soulless nations and a parched mentality.
Our tears are the dam preventing rivers of animosity.
For the sake of the mourning men, cry with us to reflect your amity.
For the sake of the poor children, cry with us demanding sanity.
For the sake of lamenting mothers, refuse violence and stupidity.
Love your enemies and cry with them is the advice of divinity.
Blessing those who curse is the path to genuine spirituality.
Pouring tears of mercy and compassion is true piety.
Pray with tears, for the sake of spreading equity.
Followers of Jesus: crying is now our responsibility.
But don’t cry for your friends only—cry also for your enemy.
Can You Help?
As we continue to pray together, for peace and protection in this region, you may also wish to support the workour partners are doing to care for displaced families.
