Project

El Salvador – (FP) Eco-Friendly Cookstoves (ENLACE)

Project Overview
Cause: Justice
Location: El Salvador
Field Staff: Patty Nacho
Project Partner: ENLACE

The aim of this project is to construct 150 eco-stoves in low-income communities of Matala, Las Mañanitas, and Los Riyitos to replace traditionally used open wood-burning stoves. This traditional method of cooking requires an estimated 3 trees per year for fuel and produces several harmful off-gasses. Project activities include training of 6 local masons on construction of eco-stoves, training of participating households on eco-stove use, and supply of construction materials required. The long term goal of this project is to decrease the health and environmental risks associated with traditional open wood-burning stoves.
