More from Imkummeren

I bring warm Christian greetings from the northeastern part of India. The partners here are doing incredible work in their communities. Their dedication and passion for serving others is truly inspiring.

Thank you for your prayers and support. Your continued support enables CBM and our partners to make a lasting impact and bring positive change to the lives of many. Together, we can continue to spread love and hope to those who are in need.

Celebrating 150 Years

It is the 150th year of mission for Canadian Baptists, marking a significant milestone in CBM’s dedication to serving communities around the world. This anniversary is a testament to your commitment to making a positive impact through various programs and initiatives.

Clark Theological College (CTC), as our key partner in Northeast, India, hosted the celebration of the 150th year in the college auditorium on February 13, 2024. The event featured inspiring speeches and sermons by Michael Waddell, Adrian Gardner, Dr. Suraj, and CP Raju. Musical performances and displays showcased the impact of the work of Canadian Baptists over the past century and a half. Attendees were able to learn more about CBM’s history and ongoing projects.

Supporting Victims of Human Trafficking

Our new partner, Samaritan Home, has started training vulnerable women in tailoring skills keeping them from becoming victims of human trafficking. This initiative aims to provide valuable skills that can empower them to become financially independent and less susceptible to exploitation. Samaritan Home’s dedication to supporting at-risk individuals is making a positive impact in the community.

Miqlat Ministry also works with the victims of human trafficking by equipping them with barista skills, offering them a chance to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society. These women undergo rehabilitation, restoration, and repatriation during their skills training. Through these partnerships, vulnerable individuals are given the tools and support needed to break free from the cycle of exploitation and create a brighter future for themselves.

Equipping Pastors & Young People

The Tzürangkong Baptist Churches are helping men and women pastors with an income generating program (rearing poultry and pigs). These pastors are often faced with financial difficulties as they are far from the town. The CBM partnership has helped them gain entrepreneurial skills, which has positive impacts on their livelihood and being able to afford their children’s education. They have also received training on financial management and marketing strategies to further enhance their businesses. With the support of CBM, they are now able to sustain themselves and provide for their families, despite the challenges of living in a remote area.

By offering capacity-building courses in baking, tailoring, computer skills, and beauty and wellness skills, the Baptist Church of Mizoram continues to empower young people. To help students with financial burdens, Clark Theological College has expanded its chicken-raising program. Teenagers from Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church are empowered via football (soccer), while Alempang Baptist Church and four other churches (Yimyu, Sungkomen, Tzüsapang, and Mokokchung) are continuing the Widows Emancipation Program. These programs not only provide valuable skills and opportunities for the youth, but also contribute to the overall development of the community. The efforts of these churches are making a significant impact in empowering individuals and uplifting the community as a whole.

On behalf of the partners in Northeast India, I would like to acknowledge the prayers, support, love and concern that you have shown through CBM. Your generosity has truly made a difference in the communities, and the partners are grateful for your continued support. As we work towards our shared goals, CBM’s kindness and love has inspired people to push forward in the mission to create positive change in the region. God bless you as you support us through CBM.

Prayer requests:

  • Continue to pray for the women in rehabilitation with the Miqlat ministry who are recovering from the trauma of human trafficking. Your thoughts and support are making a difference in their journey towards healing and empowerment. Let’s continue to stand in solidarity with them as they rebuild their lives.
  • Pray for the beneficiaries as they are trained and empowered through different activities to improve their skills and knowledge, ultimately leading to a better quality of life. Your thoughts and prayers can make a difference in their journey towards self-sufficiency and success.
  • Partners are to initiate different programs all year. Continue to pray that these programs will be successful in reaching and impacting the community in a positive way.

Sincerely,

Imkummeren Jamir
