Project Updates

Widows Empowerment Programs (ABC)

Women from four churches have benefitted from the Widows’ Empowerment Programs. Now, they can pay school fees for their children and have reclaimed their dignity in day-to-day life. Next year, the program hopes to support rural widows in the same way.

Empowerment of Youth through Sports (CBC)

Many youths are actively participating in this program, acquiring football skills while being encouraged with spiritual knowledge. Some participants were selected to play for local clubs, including two boys who were selected to join Kerala Football Club. The Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church is planning to launch a sports academy next year and hopes to introduce more local sports, including badminton, archery, and shooting.

Job Skills Training for Youth (BCM)

Young people are participating in skills training in tailoring, beauty and wellness, computers, and baking, and most of the girls are now settled into their units of study. BCM is now working on beginning its own units on aluminum and steel fabrication to generate income and to contribute to how the ongoing programs meet the needs of society, equipping young people to succeed with specialized skills and training.

Entrepreneurial Skills for Pastors

Pastors were trained in income-generation so they could continue their ministries without economic burden. 26 participants received financial assistance to start income generation programs, and they are now serving faithfully in their communities. 90% of the pastors are earning profit and serving their villages without any additional financial burden on their families.

Job Skills Training for Vulnerable Women

Samaritan Home is the women’s wing of WSBAK. The main aim of this project is “Building Hope for Life.” They provide skills training to vulnerable women in the surrounding communities. This year they have offered training in tailoring and shoemaking, and all the girls successfully completed the modules. At present, some of the girls are participating in baking and paper bag-making training.

Job Skills Training for Victims of Human Trafficking

Miqlat is the women’s Department of the Nagaland Baptist Churches Council. They are giving hope and life through vocational training to victims of human trafficking. Miqlat recently selected ten girls to undergo Barista training, and that training is now complete. For now, the girls will work at Miqlat until they are further along in their healing journey, after which they will find work in different cafes or start their own businesses. Ten girls have also completed cutting and tailoring, and some girls are still undergoing training in coaster making, interior decoration, and card making.

Business Skills Development for Village Farmers (SBCMS)
The SBCMS is trying to address the exploitation and unemployment issues in the community by creating job opportunities for youth.

Empowerment of Kui Girls

The Kui girls had the opportunity to stay and study at R Udayagiri in Odisha. The Kui Baptist Association provided residence for underprivileged girls, and, at present, 39 are in residence and studying in the local school.

Partners’ Capacity Building & Networking and Exposure visit.
The Partners’ Capacity Building & Networking and Exposure visit program took place October 27-29, 2024, at SBCMS, Serango, Odisha.
