The Situation

Dating back to 1903 through the ministry of the African Inland Mission among the Kikuyu, the ACC&S has worked as an independent body since 1948. The denomination has had a strong impact among the Kikuyu people and currently has 140 churches with over 150,000 members as well as many schools throughout Kenya. CBMā€™s partnership with the ACC&SĀ dates back toĀ the early 1970s with programs that include theological education, community development such as food security programming andĀ HIV and AIDS support, as well as emergency relief aid when needed.

Together we have been able to walk in the journey of faith, offering Godā€™s people the hope of new life based on the promises and values of the kingdom of God. Theological education has played a key role in this partnership, developing grassroots training programs from certificate courses through doctorate studies. Field Staff have invaluably participated in teaching and mentoring emergent leaders in this field.

How We Are Helping

Theological training and education

Training for computer, technical and vocational skills are provided to help youth secure employment or run small businesses.

Womenā€™s development

Materials and training are provided for development in discipleship, agriculture, finance, the crafting and selling of household goods, and other relevant areas.Ā

Staff capacity buildingĀ

Addressing the lack of opportunity and resources through education and vocational training.Ā

The Impact of Our Work

In 2016, Humprey was a student and a beneficiary of a scholarship for two years. He is from Kigumo, Kenya and is the firstborn in a family of three. That year, the family was affected by a landslide that swept away their land and almost carried away their house. They were given refuge in aĀ school where they lived for two yearsĀ whileĀ HumpreyĀ continued his studies. The familyĀ tried to secureĀ a new piece of land butĀ were unable to.

This project enabled Humprey to complete his training,Ā and he isĀ nowĀ serving as a minister withĀ theĀ ACC&S and is working with another minister to plant a newĀ church in theĀ westernĀ part of Kenya.Ā Ā

ā€œWere it not for the scholarship I received from this project and the support I received from the localĀ churchĀ I would have dropped out from school. I am where I am today because of the scholarship I received. Thanks to all who raised the funds.ā€

Humprey Nduati Murigi

ā€œThe ACC&S vision is communities in the world enjoying life in abundance. This abundant life should be holistic in nature addressing spiritual needs, physical needs as well as economic needs.ā€Ā
