A Leaflet to Lead to the Lord

Yuanchuan and Ming Ye
July 2025

Last Autumn, a team from Logos Baptist Church in Mississauga came to Germany to support and serve the university outreach ministry. The team distributed leaflets around the university, inviting students to attend the new student orientation and become connected with the church.

One day the team met a Chinese family on the road and gave them a leaflet – they had come from China to Kassel to visit their daughter Tong, who studies at the university.

Tong did not end up attending the orientation. Only a few students did, so it seemed like the results from distributing the leaflets was very limited.

Although Tong did not attend the orientation program, her mother later contacted Ming through the Logos team. Once the family had returned to China they didn’t have any way to connect with their daughter, as their relationship was strained, and they had no other acquaintances in the area.

Ming was able to contact Tong, and build a trusting relationship. They had an in-depth conversation, and talked about the faith. She was invited to come to church for Sunday worship, and attended services for a while, but then stopped. When we invited her several times, she refused for various reasons. But the Lord did not give up on her.

In the six months that followed, her mother was being greatly changed – no longer strong and remote, but humble and prayerful in surrender. Tong saw this change and contacted Ming, saying that she wanted to come back to the church to learn about the faith. Ming met with her, shared the gospel message, and led her in prayer. Since then, she has been attending Sunday services and Bible study groups very regularly. We prayed for her and joined her as a companion and witness in the faith. Now she runs the race set out for her, and the Lord is leading her.

At the end of one of the Sunday services in April, Tong accepted the Lord, and Yuanchuan led her in a prayer of conversion. The brothers and sisters in our church give great thanks to God for this.

Currently, sister Tong is attending a pre-baptismal course and will be baptized by the church in July. She testified that Jesus has changed her and her family. Previously, her father, mother and she would not speak to each other. She thought her family was in bad shape and could never get better. But now not only is she talking to her mom, but they often share their faith experiences with each other and discuss topics of faith. Her dad, on the other hand, although not yet a believer in Jesus is no longer opposed to their faith in Jesus, and he listens to their conversations about faith.

Great and awesome is our Lord, in whom nothing is difficult. Praise and thanksgiving to the Lord, who by gently leading people to him with a small acts of faithfulness accomplishes great things.
