Where Faith and Work Meet: Rev. Elie’s Renewed Calling.
Rev. KUBWIMANA Elie, a 39-year-old pastor from Gatsibo District in Rwanda’s Eastern Province, first learned about the Integral Mission in the Workplace Training through a letter from the AEBR Bishop’s Office inviting him to a workshop introducing the program. From the very beginning, Elie was eager to grow, describing the experience as both enriching and transformative. The training helped him gain fresh insights into what it truly means to live out faith in all areas of life.
Elie leads a humble but fulfilling life with his wife, three children, and two adopted children. Deeply devoted to both his family and ministry, he serves faithfully as a pastor while continuing his studies in education and leadership. “Through this training,” he explains, “I’ve come to understand that mission is not limited to preaching. It’s about serving people wherever we are whether at home, at work, or in the community.” He now views teaching and leadership as sacred callings, opportunities to live out “faith in action and action in faith.”
As part of the church’s executive leadership, Elie is developing strategies to extend the impact of the training to pastors and school leaders across Rwanda. His vision is to see every believer, teachers, businesspeople, doctors, homemakers, and farmers alike recognize that their daily work is an act of worship and service to God.
Those around Elie have noticed a renewed humility, compassion, and energy in his ministry. Despite challenges posed by government regulations affecting faith-based organisations, Elie remains hopeful. “God’s promises give me hope,” he says. “I pray to remain faithful in sharing what I have received.” Through his transformed mindset and leadership, Rev. Elie embodies the essence of Integral Mission, showing that every day of the week, in every vocation, God’s work continues.
