My name is Joseph Kahoro Maina, and I’m a pastor with Africa Christian Church and Schools (ACC&S), serving in Miharati town, Kinangop, in the Naivasha region of Kenya. My home, however, is in Murang’a, in central Kenya. Most of the people I serve are small-scale farmers and livestock keepers. Others earn a living through casual work at a nearby sugar factory.
One of the things I love most about ministry is teaching Integral Mission in the workplace. It’s amazing to see how people begin to change when they realize they can serve God right where they are—not just in church. Even when they don’t fully understand it at first, I see small transformations that bring me a lot of joy.
I also find joy in seeing our church slowly grow. Today, we have members of all ages—children, youth, young parents, and older adults—which brings life and energy to the church. What excites me even more is how people who aren’t part of our church feel welcome and often join us for events and services. That really encourages me.
I first heard about Integral Mission in a general sense while pursuing my diploma studies. But in June 2024, I attended a special training organized by our church in partnership with Canadian Baptist Ministries. That was the first time I learned about applying Integral Mission in the workplace—and it truly opened my eyes. Since then, my entire understanding of ministry has shifted. I’ve come to realize that every Christian is a minister—not just pastors like me. I now see how important it is to serve God not only on Sundays but every day, wherever we are.
After that training, I began sharing what I’d learned—starting at home, then in my village, and now in my church. And I’ve seen real change. To be honest, our church was on the verge of closing due to low attendance. But I thank God that, through this mission and His help, the church has come back to life. We now have around 30 members and are still growing. That gives me so much hope.
Even outside the church, the community is transforming. People are realizing they can serve God in their everyday lives. Many have started small fellowship groups where they pray, share, and encourage one another. People now feel empowered to speak up, to serve, and to grow in their spiritual gifts. They’re learning to work—not just for a boss or for money—but as if working for God. Whether they’re farming, selling, or doing something else, they now see it as part of God’s work. And they do it well, knowing that God sees and rewards them.
I feel deeply hopeful. The people leading and teaching in this project are opening our eyes. The lessons are clear and practical. The group I’m training with is eager—we’re learning and putting things into practice. Most of all, I feel the Holy Spirit guiding me and helping me every step of the way. If someone is praying for me, I thank God for you. Please keep praying—this mission is big, and we need one another.
In short, this project has impacted so many people—including me. It has changed how we view ministry. We’re no longer just waiting for Sunday—we’re serving God every day, from Monday to Sunday, in every place. I thank God for this project and for the people who support it. Your prayers, generosity, and time are making a real difference. May God bless you and continue to use you to spread His mission.
